The College of Animal Physiotherapy

Canine Sports Massage

  • Canine Massage is the application of recognised massage techniques, adapted to be used on the canine for the purpose of increasing circulation and lymphatic flow. It aids in muscle relaxation and suppleness. It also helps improve the range of movement and overall health and performance.
  • Massage is one of the oldest and most effective forms of treatment. It helps to reduce the chances of injury and speed up the healing process when injury has occurred.
  • Massage is beneficial to suit all breeds of dogs, from the family pet, to a performing dog, whether doing agility, obedience, or a working dog. All will benefit and improve from a correctly applied massage.
  • This is a comprehensive, professional course studying massage and stretching techniques.
  • Successful students will be awarded The College of Animal Physiotherapy's Certification in Canine Massage and will be granted membership of IAAT (International Association of Animal Therapists) in the animal massage section. The course will be an advantage when applying for or done alongside the TCAP diploma.
  • The course provides the foundation and understanding required to enable the successful graduate to practise within the canine industry as a professional canine masseuse.
  • The course requires the candidates to complete theoretical modules which will be sent to the candidate at the beginning of the course.
  • Each module will need to be completed and passed before certification can be awarded.
  • The course requires the candidates to complete extensive anatomy and physiology theoretical modules and assessments prior to the practical sessions, which will be sent to the candidate at the beginning of the course.
